What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 is the global standard for managing workplace health and safety risks. Introduced in 2018, it applies to all types of organisations, offering a flexible framework for integration. Focused on employee well-being, it emphasizes hazard identification, legal compliance, and continual improvement, showcasing a commitment to safety and long-term success.
Risk Mitigation
A systematic approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating occupational health and safety risks. By implementing this standard, organisations can proactively address potential hazards, reducing the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
Legal Compliance
Ensures that your organisation meets and exceeds legal requirements related to occupational health and safety. This not only fosters a culture of compliance but also helps in avoiding legal complications and potential financial penalties.
Promotes Safety and Productivity
Systematically addressing risks reduces workplace accidents and fosters a safe environment, boosting employee morale and productivity. Employees thrive when they feel secure in their work environment.
Benefits of ISO 45001
This framework extends beyond a mere standard; it represents a commitment to workplace health and safety that seamlessly integrates into diverse organizational structures.
Embracing proactive risk mitigation, it empowers organizations to systematically identify and address occupational health and safety risks, significantly reducing the likelihood of workplace accidents.
Going beyond mere compliance, the framework ensures legal certainty, nurturing a culture of adherence that surpasses legal requirements and helps organizations avoid legal entanglements and financial penalties, creating a secure operational landscape. The impact resonates within the workplace, fostering an environment that prioritizes safety and productivity. By systematically addressing risks, it not only diminishes accidents but also cultivates a secure working space, enhancing employee morale and productivity.
How long would it take to become approved?
This hinges on your business activities and the Health and Safety practices and procedures you have previously implemented.
If you have already acquired key risk assessments and method statements for your business activities, and are consequently in compliance with prevailing legislation, we may be able to create a tailored Health and Safety Management System. This system would be crafted specifically for your business, and we would audit its implementation to ensure compliance. Following that, we could seek certification from an accredited body, with the entire process requiring approximately 6-8 days of our assistance. However, if you do not have such risk assessments in place, the duration would be extended.
How much is it to get ISO 45001 certification?
Our charges are calculated on a daily basis, with the specific number of days determined by the nature of your business activities. For small businesses, the typical duration ranges from 6 to 8 days. The certification process conducted by a UKAS-approved body is estimated to incur a cost of £4,000 to £5,000 for a three-year certificate.

What do I need to do?
According to legal requirements, every employer is obligated to possess a Health and Safety Policy Statement. If your workforce consists of 6 or more individuals, it is mandatory for this statement to be documented and effectively communicated within the workforce. Additionally, pertinent risk assessments must be conducted, method statements should be issued when deemed necessary, and the entire system should undergo an Internal Audit. Subsequently, a management review, aligned with the specific agenda outlined in the standard, must be conducted.
